RESUMO

Aqueous ammonium ion hybrid supercapacitor (A-HSC) is an efficient energy storage device based on nonmetallic ion carriers (NH4+), which combines advantages such as low cost, safety, and sustainability. However, unstable electrode structures are prone to structural collapse in aqueous electrolytes, leading to fast capacitance decay, especially in host materials represented by vanadium-based oxidation. Here, the Co2+ preintercalation strategy is used to stabilize the VO2 tunnel structure and improve the electrochemical stability of the fast NH4+ storage process. In addition, the understanding of the NH4+ storage mechanism has been deepened through ex situ structural characterization and electrochemical analysis. The results indicate that Co2+ preintercalation effectively enhances the conductivity and structural stability of VO2, and inhibits the dissolution of V in aqueous electrolytes. In addition, the charge storage mechanisms of NH4+ intercalation/deintercalation and the reversible formation/fracture of hydrogen bonds were revealed.

RESUMO

It is crucial to estimate the theoretical carrying capacity of grasslands in Xinjiang to attain a harmonious balance between grassland and livestock, thereby fostering sustainable development in the livestock industry. However, there has been a lack of quantitative assessments that consider long-term, multi-scale grass-livestock balance and its impacts in the region. This study utilized remote sensing and empirical models to assess the theoretical livestock carrying capacity of grasslands. The multi-scale spatiotemporal variations of the theoretical carrying capacity in Xinjiang from 1982 to 2020 were analyzed using the Sen and Mann-Kendall tests, as well as the Hurst index. The study also examined the county-level grass-livestock balance and inter-annual trends. Additionally, the study employed the geographic detector method to explore the influencing factors. The results showed that: (1) The overall theoretical livestock carrying capacity showed an upward trend from 1982 to 2020; The spatial distribution gradually decreased from north to south and from east to west. In seasonal scale from large to small is: growing season > summer > spring > autumn > winter; at the monthly scale, the strongest livestock carrying capacity is in July. The different grassland types from largest to smallest are: meadow > alpine subalpine meadow > plain steppe > desert steppe > alpine subalpine steppe. In the future, the theoretical livestock carrying capacity of grassland will decrease. (2) From 1988 to 2020, the average grass-livestock balance index in Xinjiang was 2.61%, showing an overall increase. At the county level, the number of overloaded counties showed an overall increasing trend, rising from 46 in 1988 to 58 in 2020. (3) Both single and interaction factors of geographic detectors showed that annual precipitation, altitude and soil organic matter were the main drivers of spatiotemporal dynamics of grassland load in Xinjiang. The results of this study can provide scientific guidance and decision-making basis for achieving coordinated and sustainable development of grassland resources and animal husbandry in the region.

RESUMO

Introduction: Although the correlation between childhood obesity and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been explored, the causality of these remains uncertain. Thus, we conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to identify the causal association. Methods: Instrumental variables of childhood obesity were selected from genome-wide association study involving 61,111 Europeans. Besides, we collected summary statistics of different COVID-19 outcomes (susceptibility, hospitalization, and severity) from genome-wide association study including more than 2 million Europeans. The inverse-variance weighted was applied to assess the causality of childhood obesity with COVID-19. Furthermore, we replicated the above association based on another study. Results: Inverse-variance weighted results suggested that childhood obesity promoted the COVID-19 susceptibility but has not been validated in other approaches. For hospitalization and severity of COVID-19, we found that childhood obesity, respectively, increased 30 and 38% risk (P < 0.001), which were consistent in other MR approaches. Discussion: Our study provides evidence for a causal relationship between childhood BMI and COVID-19 which is consistent with previous studies. Though these explanations are biologically plausible, further studies are warranted to elucidate the role of these. Conclusions: Our study suggests the potential causal associations of childhood obesity with COVID-19, especially hospitalization and severity of COVID-19.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The growing prevalence of osteoporosis (OP) in an aging global population presents a significant public health concern. Tobacco smoke negatively affects bone turnover, leading to reduced bone mass and heightened OP and fracture risk. However, the impact of early-life tobacco smoke exposure on later-life OP risk remains unclear. OBJECTIVES: This study was to explore the effects of early-life tobacco smoke exposure on incident OP risk in later life. The mediating role of telomere length (TL) and the interaction with genetic predisposition were also studied. METHODS: Data on in utero tobacco smoke exposure (IUTSE) status and age of tobacco use initiation from the UK Biobank were used to estimate early-life tobacco smoke exposure. Incident OP cases were identified according to health-related records. Linear, Cox, and Laplace regression models were mainly used for data analysis. RESULTS: Individuals with IUTSE showed a higher OP risk [hazard ratio (HR): 1.06, 95 % confidence interval (CI): 1.01, 1.11] and experienced earlier OP onset by 0.30 years [50th percentile difference = -0.30, 95 % CI: -0.51, -0.09] compared to those without. Participants initiating tobacco smoke in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood had 1.41 times (95 % CI: 1.23, 1.61), 1.17 times (95 % CI:1.10, 1.24), and 1.14 times (95 % CI: 1.07, 1.20) the risk of OP, respectively, compared to never smokers. They also experienced earlier OP onset by 2.16, 0.95, and 0.71 years, sequentially. The TL significantly mediated the early-life tobacco exposure and OP association. Significant joint and interactive effects were detected between early-life tobacco smoke exposure and genetic elements. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings implicate that early-life tobacco smoke exposure elevates the later-life OP risk, mediated by telomere length and interplayed with genetic predisposition. These findings highlight the importance of early-life intervention against tobacco smoke exposure and ageing status for precise OP prevention, especially in individuals with a high genetic risk.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Systemic inflammation and frailty have been implicated in osteoporosis (OP) and fracture risks; however, existing evidence remains limited and inconclusive. This study aimed to assess the associations of systemic inflammation and frailty phenotype with incident OP and fracture and to evaluate the mediating role of frailty phenotype. METHODS: The present study analysed data from the UK Biobank, a comprehensive and representative dataset encompassing over 500 000 individuals from the general population. Baseline peripheral blood cell counts were employed to calculate the systemic inflammation markers, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII). Frailty phenotype was assessed using five criteria, defined as frail (≥3 items met), pre-frail (1-2 items met) and non-frail (0 items met). OP and fracture events were confirmed through participants' health-related records. Multivariable linear and Cox regression models were utilized, along with mediation analysis. RESULTS: Increased systemic inflammation was associated with increased risks of OP and fracture. The corresponding hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for OP risk per standard deviation increase in the log-transformed NLR, PLR and SII were 1.113 (1.093-1.132), 1.098 (1.079-1.118) and 1.092 (1.073-1.111), and for fracture risk, they were 1.066 (1.051-1.082), 1.059 (1.044-1.075) and 1.073 (1.058-1.089), respectively. Compared with the non-frail individuals, the pre-frail and frail ones showed an elevated OP risk by 21.2% (95% CI: 16.5-26.2%) and 111.0% (95% CI: 98.1-124.8%), respectively, and an elevated fracture risk by 6.1% (95% CI: 2.8-9.5%) and 38.2% (95% CI: 30.7-46.2%), respectively. The systemic inflammation level demonstrated a positive association with frailty, with ß (95% CI) of 0.034 (0.031-0.037), 0.026 (0.023-0.029) and 0.008 (0.005-0.011) in response to per standard deviation increment in log-transformed SII, NLR and PLR, respectively. The frailty phenotype mediated the association between systemic inflammation and OP/fracture risk. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of these findings. CONCLUSIONS: Systemic inflammation and frailty phenotype are independently linked to increased risks of OP and fracture. The frailty phenotype partially mediates the association between systemic inflammation and osteoporotic traits. These results highlight the significance of interventions targeting systemic inflammation and frailty in OP and fracture prevention and management.

RESUMO

Microbial synthesis has emerged as a promising and sustainable alternative to traditional chemical synthesis and plant extraction. However, the competition between synthetic pathways and central metabolic pathways for cellular resources may impair final production efficiency. Moreover, when the synthesis of target product requires multiple precursors from the same node, the conflicts of carbon flux have further negative impacts on yields. In this study, a self-regulated network was developed to relieve the competition of precursors in complex synthetic pathways. Using 4-hydroxycoumarin (4-HC) synthetic pathway as a proof of concept, we employed an intermediate as a trigger to dynamically rewire the metabolic flux of pyruvate and control the expression levels of genes in 4-HC synthetic pathway, achieving self-regulation of multiple precursors and enhanced titer. Transcriptomic analysis results additionally demonstrated that the gene transcriptional levels of both pyruvate kinase PykF and synthetic pathway enzyme SdgA dynamically changed according to the intermediate concentrations. Overall, our work established a self-regulated network to dynamically balance the metabolic flux of two precursors in 4-HC biosynthesis, providing insight into balancing biosynthetic pathways where multiple precursors compete and interfere with each other.

RESUMO

Aboveground Biomass (AGB) in the grassland senescence period is a key indicator for assessing grassland fire risk and autumnal pasture carrying capacity. Despite the advancement of remote sensing in rapid monitoring of AGB on a regional scale, accurately monitoring AGB during the senescence period in vast arid areas remains a major challenge. Using remote sensing, environmental data, and 356 samples of grassland senescence period AGB data, this study utilizes the Gram-Schmidt Pan Sharpening (GS) method, multivariate selection methods, and machine learning algorithms (RF, SVM, and BP_ANN) to construct a model for AGB during senescence grassland, and applies the optimal model to analyze spatio-temporal pattern changes in AGB from 2000 to 2021 in arid regions. The results indicate that the GS method effectively enhances the correlation between measured AGB and vegetation indices, reducing model error to some extent; The accuracy of grassland AGB inversion models based on a single vegetation index is low (0.03 ≤ |R| ≤ 0.63), while the RF model constructed with multiple variables selected by the Boruta algorithm is the optimal model for estimating AGB in arid regions during the senescence period (R2 = 0.71, RMSE = 519.74 kg/ha); In the span of 22 years, the annual average AGB in the senescence period of arid regions was 1413.85 kg/ha, with regions of higher AGB primarily located in the northeast and southwest of the study area. The area experiencing an increase in AGB during the senescence period (79.97 %) was significantly larger than that with decreased AGB (20.03 %).

RESUMO

Lithium, is the most ideal anode material for lithium-based batteries. However, the overgrowth of lithium dendrites and the low lithium-ion diffusion rate at low temperatures limit the further application of lithium metal anodes. Here, the applied magnetic field is introduced inside the lithium metal anode by using a novel magnetic metal-organic framework as a current collector. The magnetic field can improve the conductivity of this novel current collector, thus accelerating the diffusion of lithium ions in the battery, an advantage that is particularly prominent at low temperatures. In addition, the current collector can stabilize the solid electrolyte interface and inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites, resulting in excellent electrochemical performance. The symmetrical cell at room temperature can exceed 4600 h with a hysteresis voltage of only 9 mV. After 300 cycles at room temperature, the capacity of full cell is still 142 mA h g-1 , and it remains stable for 380 cycles at 5 °C (capacity above 120 mA h g-1 ). The strategy of constructing novel current collector with magnetic field can promote the further application of lithium batteries in extreme conditions such as low temperatures.

RESUMO

The thermocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) into high value-added chemicals provides a strategy to address the environmental problems caused by excessive carbon emissions and the sustainable production of chemicals. Significant progress has been made in the CO2 hydrogenation to long chain α-olefins, but controlling C-O activation and C-C coupling remains a great challenge. This review focuses on the recent advances in catalyst design concepts for the synthesis of long chain α-olefins from CO2 hydrogenation. We have systematically summarized and analyzed the ingenious design of catalysts, reaction mechanisms, the interaction between active sites and supports, structure-activity relationship, influence of reaction process parameters on catalyst performance, and catalyst stability, as well as the regeneration methods. Meanwhile, the challenges in the development of the long chain α-olefins synthesis from CO2 hydrogenation are proposed, and the future development opportunities are prospected. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive perspective on long chain α-olefins synthesis from CO2 hydrogenation to inspire the invention of novel catalysts and accelerate the development of this process.

RESUMO

Garlic, an important economic crop, provides nutrient-rich straw. When appropriately balanced with silage corn stalks, it is a high-quality forage resource. However, studies on the impact of garlic straw with silage corn stalks on Hu sheep's digestive metabolism and rumen microbiota are scarce. In this study, different addition ratios of garlic straw and silage corn stalks were utilized for in vitro experiments. We designed six experimental groups (CON, G0, G20, G40, G60, G80, and G100) based on varying ratios of garlic straw to silage corn stalks. Rumen microbiota was analyzed through 16S rRNA sequencing. Nutrient composition analysis indicated that garlic straw's relative feeding value (RFV) closely resembled that of silage corn stalks. After 24 h of fermentation, dry matter digestibility and in vitro gas production significantly increased, reaching peak values at a 60% addition ratio. Furthermore, volatile fatty acids (VFAs) such as acetic, propionic, and butyric acid exhibited elevated contents, with the highest yields observed at 60% inclusion. At the genus level, Prevotella, Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group, and Succiniclasticum were identified as the dominant bacterial groups. The gas production test showed a significant decrease in the G80 group compared to others. Microbial analysis revealed a higher abundance of Prevotella in G80 compared to G20, offering valuable insights for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ruminant animals. Finally, this study predicted the impact of garlic straw with silage corn stalks' addition on Hu sheep's metabolic pathways and biological functions of the rumen microbiota. This research highlights the potential for effectively utilizing garlic straw as a feed resource for Hu sheep and proposes a rational proportion for combining garlic straw with silage corn stalks.

RESUMO

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to observe whether developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) affects the development of the femoral head growth plate and to analyze the risk factors. Methods: We selected female patients aged between 11 and 20 years with unilateral DDH and unclosed femoral head growth plate (s). The selected patients underwent anteroposterior radiography of the hip joint to compare the degree of development of the femoral head growth plate on both sides and to identify risk factors that affect the development of the growth plate in the femoral head. Results: We included 48 female patients with unilateral DDH, with an average age of 14 years (range: 11.1-18.5 years) and an average BMI of 20.4 kg/m² (range: 15.5 kg/m²-27.9 kg/m²). Among them, 23 patients had earlier development of the femoral head growth plate on the affected side than on the healthy side, while the degree of development of the femoral head growth plate in 25 patients was the same as that on the contralateral side. When the Tönnis angle was greater than 29.5°C and/or the Reimers migration index was greater than 48.5%, there was a statistically significant difference in the acceleration of femoral head growth plate development. Conclusion: An abnormal relative position of the acetabulum-femoral head caused by DDH can accelerate closure of the femoral head growth plate in immature female patients. The risk factors are a Tönnis angle greater than 29.5°C and/or Reimers migration index greater than 48.5%.

RESUMO

Genetic logic gates can be employed in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology to regulate gene expression based on diverse inputs. Design of tunable genetic logic gates with versatile dynamic performance is essential for expanding the usability of these toolsets. Here, using the p-coumaric acid biosensor system as a proof-of-concept, we initially investigated the parameters influencing the buffer (BUF) genetic logic gates. Subsequently, integrating binding sequences from the p-coumaric acid biosensor system and tetR or lacI regulation systems into a constitutive promoter yielded AND genetic logic gates. Additionally, characterized antisense RNAs (asRNAs) or single guide RNAs (sgRNAs) with various repression efficiencies were combined with BUF gates to construct a suite of p-coumaric acid-triggered NOT genetic logic gates. Finally, the designed BUF and NOT gates were combined to construct bifunctional genetic circuits that were subjected to orthogonality evaluation. The genetic logic gates established in this study can serve as valuable tools in future applications of metabolic engineering and synthetic biology.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between serum matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and the formation of deep venous thrombosis(LDVT) in lower extremity patients after surgery for lower extremity fracture, and to analyze the value of MMP-1 and MMP-2 in predicting the occurrence of LDVT after lower extremity fracture. METHODS: From June 2018 to December 2021, 352 patients who planned to receive surgical treatment of lower limb fracture in our hospital were selected as the research objects. Venous blood was collected at 1, 2 and 3 days after surgery, respectively, and serum MMP-1 and MMP-2 levels were detected. The incidence of LDVT during hospitalization was analyzed, and the risk factors of postoperative LDVT in patients with lower limb fracture surgery and the predictive value of MMP-1 and MMP-2 for LDVT were analyzed. RESULTS: LDVT occurred in 40 patients (LDVT group), the incidence of LDVT was 11.36%, and 312 patients did not occurred(no occurred group). The serum levels of MMP-1 and MMP-2 in LDVT group increased gradually after surgery; the serum levels of MMP-1 and MMP-2 in the no occurred group increased slightly after surgery at 2 days and then decreased at 3 days after surgery (P<0.01);the serum levels of MMP-1 and MMP-2 in LDVT group were higher than those in the no occurred group at 2 days and 3 days after surgery (P<0.05). Serum levels of MMP-1 and MMP-2 were positively correlated with serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-8 and tumor necrosis factor -α (TNF-α) in LDVT patients at 2 days and 3 days postoperatively (P<0.05). Operative time, MMP-1 and MMP-2 postoperative 3 days were related to the occurrence of LDVT after lower limb fracture (P<0.01). The area under the curve(AUC) predicted by MMP-1 and MMP-2 postoperative 3 days for LDVT after lower limb fracture was 0.738 and 0.744 respectively, and the AUC predicted by combined MMP-1 and MMP-2 was 0.910, which was higher than that predicted by single indicator(Z=2.819 and 2.025, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: High levels of MMP-1 and MMP-2 after lower extremity fracture are closely related to the occurrence of LDVT, and 3 d mMP-1 and MMP-2 after surgery maybe used as evaluation indexes for LDVT risk prediction.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Spinal cord hemangioblastomas are rare benign and highly vascular tumors that develop either sporadically or as part of von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. Generally, complete resection without significant neurologic deficit remains considerably challenging due to the risk of massive bleeding. The current study therefore aimed to describe en bloc resection of spinal cord hemangioblastomas according to the typical anatomical structures of peripheral lesions and evaluate the neurofunctional prognosis of this technique. METHODS: A total of 39 spinal cord hemangioblastomas from a series of 19 patients who underwent en bloc resection were retrospectively analyzed. In all cases, clinical and radiologic characteristics, as well as surgical tenets, were retrospectively determined and analyzed. Short- and long-term outcomes were analyzed using the McCormick grade and Odom's criteria. Factors significantly associated with poor neurologic function after en bloc resection were also determined. RESULTS: All 39 spinal cord hemangioblastomas, including 28 intramedullary, 2 intramedullary-extramedullary, and 9 extramedullary lesions, were located dorsally or dorsolaterally (100.0%). The most common lesion location was the thoracic segment (53.8%), with most of the lesions being accompanied by syringomyelia (94.7%). Long-term follow-up (mean: 103 ± 50.4 months) for prognosis determination revealed that 88.2% (15/17) of all cases had stable or improved neurofunctional outcomes according to the McCormick grade and Odom's criteria. Only one case with VHL disease developed recurrence 4 years after surgery. Additionally, statistical analysis showed that VHL disease was an independent prognostic factor associated with deteriorating neurologic function (p = 0.015). CONCLUSIONS: En bloc resection facilitated satisfactory long-term functional outcomes in patients with spinal cord hemangioblastomas. Given that VHL disease was identified as a predictor of poor long-term outcomes, regular long-term follow-up of patients with VHL-associated spinal cord hemangioblastoma seems necessary.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND & AIMS: This study aims to assess the nutritional status of patients during the different phases of the Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy and to identify prominent risk factors of hypoalbuminemia in patients after CAR-T treatment. The clinical consequences of malnutrition in cancer patients have been highlighted by growing evidence from previous clinical studies. Given CAR-T cell therapy's treatment intensity and possible side effects, it is important to provide patients with sufficient medical attention and support for their nutritional well-being. METHODS: This study was conducted from May 2021 to December 2021 among patients undergoing CAR-T cell therapy at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center in The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the risk factors associated with hypoalbuminemia. Participants were divided into the cytokine release syndrome (CRS) group (n = 60) and the non-CRS group (n = 11) to further analyze the relationship between hypoalbuminemia and CRS. RESULTS: CRS (OR = 13.618; 95% CI = 1.499-123.709; P = 0.013) and baseline albumin (ALB) (OR = 0.854; 95% CI = 0.754-0.967; P = 0.020) were identified as the independent clinical factors associated with post-CAR-T hypoalbuminemia. According to the nadir of serum albumin, hypoalbuminemia occurred most frequently in patients with severe CRS (78.57%). The nadir of serum albumin (r = - 0.587, P < 0.001) and serum albumin at discharge (r = - 0.315, P = 0.01) were negatively correlated for the duration of CRS. Furthermore, patients with hypoalbuminemia deserved longer hospitalization (P = 0.04). CONCLUSIONS: CRS was identified as a significant risk factor associated with post-CAR-T hypoalbuminemia. An obvious decline in serum albumin was observed as the grade and duration of CRS increase. However, further research is still needed to elucidate the mechanisms of CRS-associated hypoalbuminemia.

RESUMO

To assess the diversity of bacterial taxa in Antarctic soils and obtain novel microbial resources, 15 samples from 3 sampling sites (DIS5, GWS7, FPS10) of South Shetland Islands and 2 sampling sites (APS18, CIS17) of Antarctic Peninsula were collected. High-throughput sequencing (HTS) of 16S rRNA genes within these samples was conducted on an Illumina Miseq platform. A total of 140,303 16S rRNA gene reads comprising 802 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were obtained. After taxonomic classification, 25 phyla, 196 genera, and a high proportion of unidentified taxa were detected, among which seven phyla and 99 genera were firstly detected in Antarctica. The bacterial communities were dominated by Actinomycetota (40.40%), Pseudomonadota (17.14%), Bacteroidota (10.55%) and Chloroflexota (10.26%). Based on the HTS analyses, cultivation-dependent techniques were optimized to identify the cultivable members. A total of 30 different genera including 91 strains were obtained, the majority of which has previously been reported from Antarctica. However, for the genera Microterricola, Dyadobacter, Filibacter, Duganella, Ensifer, Antarcticirhabdus and Microvirga, this is the first report in Antarctica. In addition, seven strains represented novel taxa, two of which were psychropoilic and could be valuable resources for further research of cold-adaptability and their ecological significance in Antarctica.

RESUMO

Passionflower (Passiflora edulis Sims) is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical areas for edible, medicinal and skin care product processing, and the market demand is large. Zinc (Zn) is a necessary trace element for plant growth and development. In many countries, the content of Zn in soil is low and/or bioavailability is low. The exogenous application of Zn has become a common agronomic measure in agriculture. However, the effect of Zn on the physiological characteristics and enzyme activity of passionflower seedlings is not clear. In this study, pot experiments were conducted to analyse the effects of different concentrations of Zn (0, 200, 400, 800 mg kg-1) on the plant growth, photosynthetic pigments, osmotic regulators, membrane system and antioxidant enzyme system of purple passionflower (Passiflora edulis Sims f. edulis) seedlings, and Pearson correlation and principal component analyses were performed. The results showed that (1) the 200 mg kg-1 Zn treatment increased the contents of chlorophyll a (37.65%), chlorophyll b (41.22%), chlorophyll a+b (38.59%) and carotenoids (29.74%). The value of chlorophyll a/b changed little and had no effect on leaf growth. (2) The contents of proline (Pro) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in P. edulis Sims f. edulis seedlings treated with 400 mg kg-1 Zn increased significantly by 116.84% and 42.69%, respectively. The activities of catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) increased by 16.82% and 18.70%, respectively. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), leaf area (LA), leaf perimeter (LP) and leaf width (LW) decreased significantly by 47.20%, 19.75%, 8.32% and 11.97%, respectively. (3) 800 mg kg-1 Zn significantly increased the contents of Pro (202.56%) and MDA (26.7%) and the activities of CAT (16.00%) and POD (67.00%), while the soluble sugar (SS), SOD, LA, LP and LW decreased significantly by 36.67%, 32.86%, 23.36%, 8.32% and 11.18%, respectively. (4) There was a significant positive correlation between Pro and photosynthetic pigments and between SOD and leaf growth and a significant negative correlation between POD and SS and between SOD and MDA. (5) A low concentration (200 mg kg-1) of Zn promoted the growth of P. edulis Sims f. edulis seedlings and allowed stress caused by high Zn concentrations to be tolerated. The results of this study can provide a reference for the application of Zn fertilizer to P. edulis Sims f. edulis.

RESUMO

In this paper, we studied a series of high-speed photodetectors (PD) with different super-lattice interlayer periods and the scale of the effective area to examine their communication performance. The mini-PDs are designed with a single 1 mm × 1 mm effective area. The mini-PDs have three different super-lattice (SL) periods in the interlayer: 8, 15, and 32. The micro-PD sample has multiple 50um by 50um photosensitive areas that form a 4 × 4 receiver array, which shares a common N electrode. Its SL period is 26. The experiment shows that mini-PDs have the advantages such as better tolerance to beam spot deviation, larger field of view (FoV), higher responsibility, and wider peak width in spectral response. But micro-LED samples outperform the others in communication capacity and wavelength selectivity. The 8, 15, and 32 SL mini-PD samples achieve 6.6, 7.3, and 8.8 Gb/s data rates, respectively. The micro-PD gains the maximum data rate of 14.38Gb/s without applying waveform level post-equalization, and 15.26Gb/s after using an NN-based post-equalizer. This experiment shows that with proper DSP, GaN-based PD would be suitable for high-speed VLC systems, especially for the short wavelength spectrum in visible light.

RESUMO

Previous studies have found working memory (WM) advantages of the pathological smartphone use (PSU) group, but most of which were emphasized in the network-related domain. Whether the advantages can transfer to other domains has yet to be confirmed. In particular, exploring from a brain mechanism perspective is necessary. Using the classical N-back paradigm, this study selected network-related words and neutral words as materials combined with fNIRS to probe the verbal WM characteristics of the PSU group. The results showed that ß in channel 3, channel 4, and channel 5 were significantly lower in the PSU group than those in the control group The analysis of the region of interest revealed that the PSU group showed significantly lower ß in the l-DLPFC and frontopolar. Granger Causality results showed that functional connectivity between frontopolar and R-DLPFC for the PSU group was significantly higher than for the control group in the network word condition. These results demonstrate that the PSU group has an advantage in WM, transferring from the network-related stimulus to the neutral stimulus. The advantages of network stimulus were related to bidirectional connectivity between frontopolar and R-DLPFC. Also, the l-DLPFC and frontopolar are associated with the cross-material consistency of WM.

RESUMO

Few studies have focused on the effects of multiple metal mixtures on bone health and the underlying mechanisms related to alterations in the gut microbiota. This study aimed to examine the potential roles of gut microbiota alterations in metal mixtures and their association with osteoporosis traits. Adults aged ≥ 55 years were recruited from two community healthcare centers in Wuhan City during 2016-2019. The plasma concentrations of six metals (zinc, iron, selenium, lead, cadmium, and arsenic) were measured using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer. The k-means clustering method was employed to explore the exposure profiles of metal mixtures for all participants. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to profile the gut microbiota of participants. Combining these results with those of our previous study, we identified overlapping taxa and evaluated their potential roles. A total of 806 participants (516 females), with an average age of 67.36 years were included. The participants were grouped into three clusters using k-means clustering: Cluster 1 (n = 458), Cluster 2 (n = 199), and Cluster 3 (n = 149). The high-exposure group for iron, zinc, lead, and cadmium (Cluster 3) showed a negative association with lumbar spine 1-4 bone mineral density (BMD). A total of 201 individuals (121 females) underwent sequencing of the gut microbiota. Both alpha and beta diversities were statistically different among the three groups. Bacteroidaceae, Lachnospiraceae, Bifidobacteriaceae, Bacteroides, and Lachnospiraceae_incertae_sedis were identified as overlapping taxa associated with the metal mixtures and BMD. Interaction analysis revealed that Cluster 3 interacted with Bacteroidaceae/Bacteroides, resulting in a positive effect on LS1-4 BMD (ß = 0.358 g/cm2, 95% CI: 0.047 to 0.669, P = 0.025). Our findings indicate associations between multiple metal mixtures and BMD as well as gut microbiota alterations. Exploring the interaction between metal mixtures and the gut microbiota provides new perspectives for the precise prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
